Comedy writing for popular digital series

THE CHALLENGE

You don’t become one of the largest and most popular YouTube channels of all time overnight. It takes hard work, dedication, and a lot — A LOT — of unconventional ideas. At least, that’s the case for the hit show Good Mythical Morning. Launched in 2008 as a digital series, Good Mythical Morning quickly grew into a digital comedy powerhouse — garnering over 17 million subscribers and billions of views (and even an appearance on The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon). When I joined the team as a contributor, I knew I had to continue to push the boundaries with big ideas and better execution.

THE SOLUTION

In my three years contributing to the series, I worked closely with the show’s executive producer to pitch episode ideas and develop show storylines. From big-picture concepts to punchy dialogue to air-tight jokes, we worked in a collaborative manner to bring ideas from script to screen.


THE OUTCOME

While I can’t take credit for the success of the show, it was a joy to be a small part of it — working alongside a team of writers and producers to provide work that truly connected with loyal viewers. Today, Good Mythical Morning continues to scale and push the boundaries of digital content.
